Congratulations and welcome to Beta Theta Omicron, Skyline College’s chapter of the International Honor Society Phi Theta Kappa. Your academic dedication and achievement have earned you this distinction. As a member you now have many new opportunities within your reach that will enrich both your academic and personal experiences here at Skyline College.
Phi Theta Kappa is committed to academic excellence and individual growth by providing leadership, scholarship, fellowship and service opportunities. The experience and skills you will earn from actively participating in the organization will be invaluable; skills that you will carry and utilize throughout the rest of your life. On a more practical level we offer unparalleled services and benefits such as exclusive scholarships, resume help; and the proper tools for college essays and interviews. I encourage you to become an active member and learn more about what you will gain from this rewarding experience.
Scholarship and fellowship are encouraged through our honors study projects. This year our honors study topic is The Paradox of Affluence: Choices, Challenges, and Consequences. This important current issue examines how our lives and the world are affected. Linked to this theme are other programs that will enrich your collegiate life such as honors seminars. As an active member you may have the privilege to attend seminars and conferences around the country. We are servant leaders in our community and actively participate in events such as Relay for Life, Books for Africa, and an array of beach cleanups.
Our 5 star Chapter has won many awards and honors over the years. Our dedication in working together to achieve great things has brought us to where we are today. We seek to continue our tradition of excellence with your contributions. Each individual member is empowered with the necessary tools to make a difference, and now it is up to you to seize it.
Congratulations again and I encourage you to take advantage in all that Phi Theta Kappa has to offer.
