Mexico: Puerto Vallarta -- November 2007

For the week of Thanksgiving, I met a big group of my family who live in different parts of the U.S., down in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.

This was much more of a resort vacation than my usual backpacking trips.

The place where we stayed was on the beach of Nuevo Vallarta and the daily temperatures were in the upper 80's in late November.  For many of my family members, it was snowing back home.

The resort where many of my family members stayed was called the Grand Mayan.  This pool created waves and the pyramid in the background was a huge waterslide.

There was also a long river you could float down.

There were many pools throughout the resort with exercise bikes next to the pool and swim up bars.

Los Arcos (the arches).  Famous rocks with natural caves very popular for snorkeling.

The Malecon in Puerto Vallarta where there were many shops, restaurants and local artists selling their art.

The seahorse is the symbol of Puerto Vallarta and this statue can been seen on the Malecon.

A band was setting up to play later in front of the arches on the Malecon.
