Midterm Exam (July 17th from 6-8pm) (changed)

Please answer two of the following questions from the midterm study questions.

Please email me your answers (ballj@smccd.edu) by 8pm tonight (July 17th).

Anything submitted after 8:15 will be considered late and your score will be penalized.

Directions for submitting answers:

2. You can either type your answer in the text box of the email or you can send me your answers a a single attachment. My computer can read Word doc. If you do not have Microsoft word and want to send your answers as an attachment, please save and send them as rtf files (rich text format).

Here are the questions:

3. Baron d'Holbach, Viktor Frankl, and Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan disagree with respect to the free will/determinism issue. Briefly restate each of their positions. What does each want us to believe? How does each argue for his position?

4. In the dialogue of the same name, Euthyphro attempts several definitions of holiness. Restate at least two along with a discussion of the difficulties posed by Socrates.

6. Present and analyze Aristotle's views regarding virtue and happiness. Explain what a virtue is, the role of reason, and "the Mean between two "extremes."
