Teaching Schedule Spring 2013 LIBR 100:Introduction to Library Research
An introduction to library resources and research. Provides a practical, hands-on introduction to the library. Topics covered include formulating and refining a research question, library organization, using reference materials, searching the online catalog and databases, searching the Internet, evaluating Web sites, avoiding plagiarism, and citing sources.
The required textbook for this class is The College Student's Research Companion: Finding, Evaluating and Citing the Resources You Need to Succeed by Arlene Quartiello. ISBN: 9781555707293. This is the 5th edition of this book. Past editions are very different and won't work for this class. This book is available for purchase in the CSM bookstore or it is available from many different online bookstores, for rent or for purchase.
